Considering the increased importance of so-cial media in our lives, our virtual identity, like on Facebook, has become equally signifi-cant to the real one. This social media based community art project is to re-position our consciousness between our virtual identity and physical identity.
I requested Facebook users to take a selfie or self photograph with an object which is really close to their heart or they can associ-ate themselves with deep rooted affection for that object. The only condition was to take the photograph in a way that the object will partially or completely hide their face. In this way, the idea was to recognize the overlap of one’s core interest over his/her physical identity and to represent it through their virtu-alilty on facebook page.
This was an attempt to realise and recognize the coexistence of our both identities- the Virtual and the Real, and understanding multi-faceted existence of people around us.
